arkOS : An Anti-Cloud Server Management Distribution For Raspberry Pi

The initiative of CitizenWeb Project & Jacob Cook, arkOS is Arch-Linux based Anti-cloud server management custom Linux distribution, specially built for Raspberry Pi promoting decentralization and democratization of Internet. arkOS allows you to host your own Website, Email & also your own private cloud service. All of these functions are managed by a GUI (Graphical User Interface) application known as 'Genesis', a one-stop shop which runs on top of arkOS; where you can add, modify & customize the arkOS nodes, allowing the user to easily install Server applications, plugins, upload - manage files & manage your (own) cloud.

Genesis, the graphical server management application running ontop arkOS is very simple to use & as most of the server functions are managed within this application, making arkOS very easy to setup for the users who have little or no knowledge of Linux distribution. Additionally, the features which lets user to monitor system's performance like CPU speed, Memory usage, RAM consumption & one click backup - restore application configurations, is a big plus in maintaining the server, restoring the server in case of sudden crash & keeping live for long time.

arkos-round.

You can grab arkOS installer (a graphical installer application) from official downloads page which is currently available for all Linux distributions & Mac OS X. All you've to do is start the arkOS installer, follow the steps to install arkOS in the sdcard or SDHC to make it bootable for Raspberry Pi. (Check the links at the end of the thread for detailed information)

While Government backed surveillance organisations like NSA & PRISM are keeping track on every move made by people, and trying to control everything by forcing big companies like Microsoft,Apple & Google to keep backdoor in their proprietary softwares & breaching people's privacy, arkOS certainly comes to our rescue allowing the user to be in full-control of his own data. Feel the Freedom!
